Loving Kindness & Integral Assessment

The Loving Kindness exercise was easier for me this time than the first time I did it. I think it is one I need to practice more on a regular basis; it is not difficult to do and does not take much time. By letting out loving kindness I am more able to bring in loving kindness. I really like the positive reflection I get from doing this exercise.

The Integral Assessment was an interesting assessment. It really made me realize what areas I was struggling in by writing it down on paper and really looking at it. I think the biological area is my strongest point. I work out regularly and eat healthy and nutritional meals. The interpersonal area is probably my next strongest area. I am very close to my family and friends and have great relationships with them. The psychospiritual and worldly areas are what I need to work on. I need to do more volunteering and become involved in my church. I want to be more involved; I just need to take the initial step in doing this. I can work on strengthening my psychospiritual self by continuing to practice these exercises more regularly. I feel very connected with myself and have a more positive outlook after doing them, and it would be very beneficial for me to continue these on a regular basis.

  1. It is so refreshing to read a blog where someone is satisfied and quite happy to have such healthy interpersonal relationships. You're actually quite lucky as this can bring quite some stress in life if loved ones and friends are at odds with one another. I also found the exercises are getting easier to stay focused each time I do them and it's great to know there is an outlet when life gets a little out of control. Volunteering is something that through the example of my father, I have always found time for. Nothing brings a person more joy than giving your time and helping others. I've always had such a deep appreciation for those who do for others and expect nothing in return. I hope this is a joy that you allow in your life, it really is more of a gift for yourself than the others who benefit from your time:-) Katie

  2. Hello Jake,

I had a hard time getting anything out of the exercise. I know that with time that will change. I do want to continue doing this. I have learned from the assessment that I want to work on my interpersonal area. I want to be able to do the loving-kindness and universal loving kindness and feel more love toward my enemies and others. I feel a great deal of love already for my family & friends. I just need to work on the other part. Your post was really great! I enjoyed hearing someone else's perspective and what they feel they need to work on. Good luck to you!

  3. Jake,

This is the first time I have read your blog and I enjoyed it thank you. Yes being involved in volunteer things are good the hardest part always seems to be putting that first step forward. I am glad to see that you are able to sort out what you would like to do.

Good luck and have a great week!
